議程簡介

行 動裝置與雲端服務近年快速成長，除了在使用上走入大型的商業服務，並漸漸成為多數人日常生活不可或缺的重要元素！而許多走在時代尖端的大專院校與公司組 織，也搭上此波風潮、開始採用各類雲端式的資訊處理平台，同步搭配行動裝置來進行機構的資訊同步與更新，以替代與簡化傳統的行政紙本作業程序，加速組織內 的資訊分享，並活絡資訊傳遞的效率與速度。有鑑於此、自由軟體鑄造場基於推廣自由開源軟體技術與媒介國際資訊趨勢的立場，將於 12 月 28、29日，與國家高速網路與計算中心、軟體自由協會，假中研院人文社會館 102 會議室與國研院國家高速網路與計算中心 104 階梯教室，共同舉辦跨台北與新竹地界的 Open Source Apps on Mobile 國際研討會。

本次活動邀請到 Kurogo 校園資訊系統主要開發者與 Modo Labs 創辦人 Andrew Yu 先生來台，為參與者說明 Kurogo 的技術框架，並分享經驗說明其如何將此原生自美國麻省理工學院的校園專案，轉植到許多美國東岸如哈佛大學等知名院校的行動校園網，由於機會難得、所以同步 在 28 號與 29 號的新竹場皆安排了相關議程；而在 28 號台北場的下午，更加碼邀集了三位國內對於行動裝置應用程式有實務開發與推展經歷的專家，透過本次的活動將其在行動裝置軟體應用方面的寶貴經驗分享給與會 的大家。預計活動的參與者，將可以第一手面對面的學習到如何善用自由開源軟體的既成工具與框架，快速地建置自己想要的行動裝置應用程式，並繼以開發自己心 目中期待的 SaaS 與 PaaS 雲端式解決方案，而大專院校或中大型企業的資訊系統建置人員，更可以吸收到麻省理工學院校內資訊服務系統的建設原理，並據以調整改善手上承接的服務性資訊 平台！

場次一：開源平台的現況和應用、行動校園、行動企業、SaaS 軟體服務的大未來

行 動裝置與雲端服務已經漸漸成為我們生活中不可或缺的元素之一了，學校與公司組織也開始採取資訊行動與雲端處理來代替及簡化傳統的行政紙本作業程序。全球的 自由軟體開源社群又在這項行動改革中做了哪些推波助瀾的事情呢？而參與者又該如何善用自由軟體的框架去建造自己的行動應用軟體，並開發自己的 SaaS 與 PaaS 解決方案呢？

場次二：Kurogo 技術架構和實作案例

Kurogo 是一個來自 Modo Labs 的開源行動最佳中介軟體，Modo Labs 本身強調簡單整合、優良的使用者經驗與客製化服務。Kurogo 最初是以極受推崇的 MIT 行動裝置架構為基礎，至今已經發展成一個具備豐富內容的行動網站，並可讓原生應用程式在其框架上接續被擴充與改善的優異平台。Kurogo 強化了許多機構行動裝置的資訊呈現方式，不論是一流大學、或全球前五百大企業都有它的使用用戶。

場次三：Fancy Rich Editing in Android

Android 是一個可以讓軟體在各層級自由開發的開放平台，它提供豐富且多樣的 API 套件框架，使得應用程式的開發更為簡便。特別的是，Android 的 View 系統匯集了常用的小工具以及外觀設計，讓開發者能夠建立豐富的圖形化介面應用程式。然而，量身打造符合使用者需求的小工具常常被忽略、或者太過困難。這個 演講主要是討論客製化使用者經驗的重要性。我們將會提供一些如何在 Android 上利用客製化的 Spans 做花俏豐富文字編輯的小提示與方法。

場次四：文本座標與電子出版經驗分享

從 部落格百家爭鳴後，行動定位服務網站如地圖日記的崛起，顛覆了文字和社群地緣的關係。今日上網設備的多樣進化下，在配合文化活動與文字、新聞出版之間的密 切關係，有什麼可能？他不是日記也不是數位集中書架出版上的精美書封，更不是圖書館裡被固定的編目位置，是拉近手持設備者所在的土地和文化之間的文本座 標，他們因此而匯流集市。

場次五：Titanium Mobile 利用 Javascript 打造跨平台原生行動應用程式

因 各種 Smart Phone 和 Tablet 的普及，各類型 App 的需求都急劇上升。但是如果 app 有跨平台需求，便需有熟悉使用不同程式語言的開發人員才能做到。而 Titanium Mobile 的出現改變了這個狀況。它能夠將你寫好的 Javascript 應用程式轉換成真正的原生應用程式！

講者簡介

Andrew Yu

Andrew Yu 是Modo Labs 執行長和董事會成員，他是智能手機與行動裝置方面的專家，並且擁有網路與行動軟體實務經驗超過十六年。Andrew 是前美國麻省理工學院的數位平台經理，同時也為 iMobileU 組織的共同創辦人。
Andrew 畢業於哈佛大學物理系，並在麻省理工學院修習電子工程和電腦科學。


吳冠鋆 （wuman）

吳冠鋆（wuman），宏達電資深工程師。目前專注在 Android 手機上的社群應用軟體開發，沒事喜歡鑽研各種新技術。他同時也是 TOSSUG（Taipei Open Source Software User Group） 與 Hacking Thursday 這兩個社群的固定成員。

Topic Information

In May 2010, Apple filed a patent lawsuit against HTC claiming that HTC's Android phone infriged its patent. This lawsuit triggered a series of patent lawsuits regarding Android phone, which is followed by the heated discussion about software patent in Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). Taiwan, as a leading mobile devices and hardwares manufacturing economy, is deeply affected. Therefore, OSSF arranged this legal workshop and invited experts who will address on the patent issues in FOSS upon these cases.

This workshop will start with a brief patent introduction by Jyh-An Lee, assistant professor at College of Law, National Chengchi University (NCCU), in Chinese. The keynote speaker will be Keith Bergelt, CEO of Open Invention Network (OIN). Mr. Bergelt will share his rich experience in open source innovation, patent, and the relevant Android issues, which will cover patent topics concerned by FOSS participants. OIN is a professional organisation dedicated to Linux patent safeguard. OIN made a patent pool through acquisition, donation acceptance and cross licensing to protect the development of Linux Kernel and related industry. Mr. Bergelt has devoted himself in IP for decades. He is quite familiar with patent field and constantly expresses his insight in patent issues.

  • Keith Bergelt is the CEO of Open Invention Network (OIN) and an Open Source steward with experience in organizational design and governance, strategy, business development, licensing, intellectual asset management, intellectual property finance, and diplomacy. Prior to joining the OIN, Mr. Bergelt served as president and CEO of two Hedge Funds – Paradox Capital and IPI. Previously, he established and served as General Manager of the Strategic Intellectual Asset Management business unit at Motorola Corporation and served as Motorola's director of Technology Strategy. Prior to his extensive private sector experience, Mr. Bergelt served for twelve years as a diplomat with postings at the United Nations in New York and the American Embassy in Tokyo, Japan.

Jyh-An Lee

  • Assistant Professor of Law at National Chengchi University
  • Jyh-An Lee is an Assistant Professor of Law at National Chengchi University, Taipei, Taiwan, where he teaches Copyright, Patent, International Intellectual Property, Entertainment Law, and Internet Law. He holds a J.S.D. from Stanford Law School and an LL.M from Harvard Law School. During his study at Stanford, he worked with Professor Lawrence Lessig and was appointed as the John M. Olin Fellow in Law and Economics. Lee’s current research focuses on the interaction between law, human behavior, and digital technologies, and now he is also the Legal Lead of Creative Commons Taiwan as well.

PHP 是一個歷史悠久且廣泛被應用的程式語言，自 1995 年發展至今已經將近 20 年。它具有相當的穩定性以及自由度，在台灣目前是最常被用來寫網站的程式語言。這樣被廣泛使用的程式語言，在台灣卻一直缺乏一個大型的 conference 來讓這些開發者們互相交流。

Jim Huang（黃敬群），慣用網路暱稱為「jserv」，是個熱血工讀生。自 1999 年開始對自由軟體發展作貢獻，於 2005 年起提供以自由軟體為基礎的技術資訊服務，涉及手機、GPS導航、數位電視、電子廣告系統、機器人等嵌入式系統設計。基於對電腦技術與自由軟體的熱愛，於 2009 年與同好共同創立 0xlab，期許能以團隊的優勢提供完整戰力，為軟體界做出些許貢獻。

朱建志（jaceju）

現任電週文化網站開發部的技術經理，著有 PHP Smarty 樣版引擎一書。是一個喜歡 PHP 及其他網站開發技術的程式工作者，並沈迷在這個世界裡，進而去探索這些技術有趣的地方。分享技術的理念是︰取之於網路、回饋於網路，並且讓大家能感受到自己學習到新東西的快樂。

林錦賜（pct）

目前為四點設計有限公司的經理，每天都在寫程式，常常跟一些熱愛寫程式的朋友們一起聚會、分享所學。 大學時初識 FreeBSD 而內心悸動不已，希望可以幫 FreeBSD 做點事而改行寫程式。目標：改變世界，或至少改變自己的人生。

現於 DCView 數位視野擔任資深工程師。在某個因緣際會的情形下嘗試著用 Symfony 寫了一個小型的報名系統，便逐步的踏入 Symfony 的世界。開發 YOMO pets 寵物誌時，便決定採用 Symfony ，共花了六個月的時間完成，大大縮短了開發時間。

林珈宏（legist / 強哥）

現於 OSSF 擔任法政研究的工作。學歷背景為法律與經濟，對於資訊、網路及創新創業領域素有興趣，愛好音樂及歌唱。經常在獲取新知、學思論辯與腦力激盪的過程中得到很大的快樂。

黃敬群（Jserv）

Jim Huang（黃敬群），慣用網路暱稱為「jserv」，是個熱血工讀生。自 1999 年開始對自由軟體發展作貢獻，於 2005 年起提供以自由軟體為基礎的技術資訊服務，涉及手機、GPS導航、數位電視、電子廣告系統、機器人等嵌入式系統設計。基於對電腦技術與自由軟體的熱愛，於 2009 年與同好共同創立 0xlab，期許能以團隊的優勢提供完整戰力，為軟體界做出些許貢獻。

朱建志（jaceju）

現任電週文化網站開發部的技術經理，著有 PHP Smarty 樣版引擎一書。是一個喜歡 PHP 及其他網站開發技術的程式工作者，並沈迷在這個世界裡，進而去探索這些技術有趣的地方。分享技術的理念是︰取之於網路、回饋於網路，並且讓大家能感受到自己學習到新東西的快樂。

周益良（judas）

Topic Information

GPL is the most widely used Open Source Software license. The unique Copyleft character of GPL leads to the compulsory derivative work licensing under it. Due to the insufficient knowledge of the Copyleft character, many companies violate GPL and hence infringe the copyright of the Open Source Software under GPL.

Therefore, OSSF invited the core members of the GPL-Violations.org, Harald Welte and Armijn Hemel to be our distinguished speakers of this workshop. GPL-Violations.org is an organization focusing on GPL violation cases. Mr. Welte is the founder of the GPL-Violations.org and the copyright holder of several well-known GPLed components. In the past few years, he has been instituting some successful GPL violation lawsuits in Europe. Mr. Hemel is in charge of the technical inspection of the GPL violation in the GPL-Violations.org for many years. Both of them have intensive knowledge about the GPL and related technical skills.

In this workshop, Mr. Welte and Mr. Hemel will explain the important rules of the GPL and how to comply with the GPL technology. They will also demonstrate some real cases in the afternoon sessions. Speakers will show us how to inspect whether a product contains GPLed code or not and whether a product with GPLed code complies with the obligations of the GPL or not. Through their introduction and technical analysis, the domestic Open Source Software developers will have better understanding about the connotations of the GPL and be more capable of using the GPLed components in commercial products.

Free and Open Source Software License Compliance, Harald Welte

Free and Open Source Software such as the Linux kernel are used in a wide range of products today. You will find it not only in the PC/Server/Laptop/Netbook world, but especially in embedded devices like DSL routers, WiFi access points, mobile phones, TV sets, car navigation systems. Like any software, Free and Open Source software is subject to copyright and even while it is available free of royalty or license payments, there still are licenses that need to be followed in order to avoid the risk of copyright infringement. The presentation will cover the basic requirements of the most popular Free Software license (the GNU GPL) and illustrate how compliance with this license is achieved. It will discuss legal and business risks associated with violating the GPL, as well as a brief history on real-world legal cases that have been brought forward by the GPL-Violations.org project.

The Nuts and Bolts of GPL Compliance Engineering, Armijn Hemel

In this talk we will discuss the nuts and bolts of GPL compliance engineering. We will discuss which steps we take to discover violations and walk through the most common cases of violations, plus solutions to these violations. We will also discuss the background of why violations happen and what can be done to prevent violations from happening in the future.

  • Founder of GPL-Violations.org.
  • Harald Welte is a technology consultant with hands - on experience in electrical engineering, system-level software development and communications system security. As a contributor and one of the many copyright holders to the Linux kernel, he is in a position to take legal steps in case companies violate the GNU GPL licensing terms, leading to the creation of the GPL-Violations.org project. Harald runs his consulting business hmw-consulting out of Berlin, Germany but often travels all over Asia on behalf of his clients.

Armijn Hemel

  • Coreteam Member and Lead Engineer of GPL-Violations.org.
  • Armijn Hemel works for Loohuis Consulting in Utrecht, the Netherlands as a system administrator, programmer and consultant. He specializes in GPL license compliance engineering. He is part of the coreteam of GPL-Violations.org and until recently served on the board of NLUUG. He is the author of the GPL compliance engineerng guide and the main engineer for the Binary Analysis Tool.
